Why it matters — Intel’s warning on PC demand and cash burn, plus Amazon’s record free-cash outflow from AI spending, are feeding the same worry: how long the AI build-out can be funded without hurting returns. Reuters reported the Nasdaq-100 was on pace to lose close to $1 trillion in market value in a single day. Energy is the main offset, with oil above $104 a barrel.

Crypto — Bitcoin is down more than 5% near $77,300 after the roughly $6.3 billion Binance hack (details), and crypto-linked stocks such as Coinbase, Circle, Robinhood and Strategy were down more than 6% before the open.

WMR data — Watch the VIX, the 10-year yield and the dollar index on Market pulse, and chip relative strength on Semiconductors, to see whether the selloff stays concentrated in tech or broadens.

What to watch next — Whether the S&P 500 closes beyond -1.5% and the Nasdaq beyond -2%, the month-end close for October, and Apple’s results on Nov. 2.
