AI Stocks Push the Nasdaq Up 1.2% While Boeing Sinks 10.7%; Visa Tops Estimates After the Bell
Data as of: 2026-10-27 16:45 ET (regular-session close; after-hours moves as noted)

WMR at a Glance
- What moved markets: a narrow AI rally. Broadcom (+4%), CoreWeave (+7.9%) and Nvidia (+0.9%) carried the Nasdaq up 1.2%, while AP noted that most S&P 500 stocks actually fell and Boeing’s 10.7% drop held the Dow flat.
- Where our data stands: going into today, Broadcom was still 31.4% below its 52-week high and down 21% over six months, so its jump is a rebound inside a deep drawdown; Meta had lost 10.6% in a week ahead of today’s pricing of its stock sale.
- Next: the Fed decision Wednesday at 2:00 PM ET, then Microsoft and Alphabet after the close the same evening.

| Index | Close | Day | Week to date | Year to date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S&P 500 | 7,722.60 | +45.83 (+0.6%) | +1.3% | +12.8% |
| Dow Jones Industrial Average | 52,377.57 | +15.99 (<+0.1%) | +0.3% | +9.0% |

Index levels and changes from AP’s closing table, matched by TheStreet’s 4:19 PM wrap.
| Market gauge | Level | Change | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-year Treasury yield | 4.99% | about -1 bp | Steady as oil fell |
| 5-year note auction ($70B) | 4.845% high yield | bid-to-cover 2.33 | About 19 bp below September’s auction |
| Brent crude | $109.41 (AP, late) | -1.2% | Talks in Tehran eased supply fears |
| WTI crude | just under $100 (afternoon) | about -1.9% (1:44 PM, Reuters) |
How to read it: small caps matched the Nasdaq’s 1.2% gain, so the day was not only about megacaps, but the equal-weight picture was weak: AP said most S&P 500 members fell. The S&P 500 is now about 1.2% below the record it set earlier this month. Track yields, the dollar and the VIX on Market Pulse.

All results figures come from the companies’ press releases.
- Visa: Investing.com and AlphaStreet both put the adjusted EPS estimate at $3.44, so the quarter beat. Full-year net revenue reached $45.9 billion (+15%). Visa bought back about 11 million shares for $4.0 billion in the quarter and still had $24.4 billion of authorization at Sept. 30. Its $2.4 billion BioCatch purchase is expected to close by the end of fiscal Q2 2027.
- Seagate: the guidance midpoint implies another sequential jump of about 13% in revenue, driven by data-center storage demand. Free cash flow was $1.48 billion in the quarter. The stock’s reaction shows how high expectations had run going into the print.
- Robinhood: trading in options (+31%) and equities (+41%) grew fast, but crypto revenue fell 55% and net interest revenue 9%, a mix that left profit lower than a year ago. Funded customers reached 28.7 million and platform assets $396 billion (+19%). WMR data: the stock entered the report 38.3% below its 52-week high (Monday close $92.84).
- NXP: industrial and IoT revenue rose 39% and automotive 13%; the Q4 revenue midpoint of $3.85 billion is above Q3’s level.
- Enphase: revenue fell about 29% from a year earlier and the Q4 range points lower still. WMR data: at Monday’s close the stock was 58.8% below its 52-week high.
- Also reported after the bell (not reviewed here): Waste Management, Baker Hughes, ONEOK, Teradyne, F5, PPG, Logitech (Earnings Whispers).
Earlier today: Boeing’s revenue rose 4% to $24.2 billion with a core loss of $0.34 a share (GAAP loss $0.26) and positive free cash flow of $464 million (company 8-K). Earnings results tracker: Earnings Calendar.

8. Top news and market impact
| What happened | Market reaction |
|---|---|
| Fed began its two-day meeting under Chair Kevin Warsh; a hold is widely expected after September’s hike (about 90% odds in CME FedWatch, per Yahoo Finance) | 10-year yield steady near 4.99% |
| Conference Board consumer confidence jumped to 91.7 from 84.2 | Firmer sentiment ahead of the Fed decision |
| September new home sales 676,000 annualized (-0.6%); durable goods orders +1.8%, core capital goods orders +0.5% | Little market impact |
| Talks in Tehran among Saudi, Turkish, Pakistani and Iranian officials; Houthis claimed a strike on Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura refinery | Oil fell about 1-2%; refiners lower |
| Meta priced $25 billion of common stock at $625 and about $12.5 billion of mandatory convertible preferred | Meta -0.8% |
| $63 billion financing for Broadcom chips leased to Anthropic | Broadcom +4%, AI stocks led |
| GM to move its listing to Nasdaq | GM +5.5% |
9. US Spotlight
AI financing gets more creative. Bank of America, Citi, Morgan Stanley and Blackstone are arranging a $63 billion package, about $43.5 billion of it senior bank loans, for a special-purpose vehicle that will buy Broadcom AI accelerators and networking gear and lease them to Anthropic, with deliveries starting in 2027 (Reuters). Why it matters: it keeps the hardware off Anthropic’s balance sheet and gives Broadcom a funded buyer, a model other AI labs may copy. It arrives a day after Anthropic’s S-1 showed $16.3 billion of first-half revenue. Next: an amended S-1 with a price range; reports point to pricing around late November, which the company has not confirmed.
Meta prices its stock sale. Meta upsized the common-stock part of its offering to $25 billion from $22.5 billion, priced at $625 a share through forward sale agreements, and sold 250 million mandatory convertible preferred depositary shares at $50 (company release). Reuters tallied the full plan, including an at-the-market program of up to $60 billion that is not expected to start before early 2027, at about $97.5 billion. Nvidia said it would invest $3 billion. Why it matters: one of the world’s most profitable companies is now issuing equity to keep up with AI capex, a signal about how much capital the buildout still needs. Next: forward settlement and the new Class C shares in 2027.
Boeing’s recovery slips a year. Boeing now expects to reach 47 737s a month only in early 2027 and 52 a month in the second half of 2027, and said it will fall short of 500 deliveries in 2026 (Reuters). Free cash flow was $464 million in the third quarter but -$359 million year to date; Reuters reported that the roughly $3 billion 2027 cash-flow outlook compares with a $5.5 billion consensus. Why it matters: Boeing was the largest drag on the Dow and its suppliers depend on the production rate. Next: 777-9 certification targeted for mid-2027.
GM moves to Nasdaq. General Motors said it will transfer its listing from the NYSE to the Nasdaq Global Select Market and expects to begin trading there on Nov. 17 (company 8-K). Why it matters: it is a high-profile defection that could make GM eligible for the Nasdaq-100, bringing potential index-fund demand. The stock rose 5.5%.
Microsoft offers buyouts to about 60,000 staff. Microsoft opened a voluntary exit offer to employees at level 70 and below in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and India, roughly 27% of its full-time workforce (company blog).
